Organizational Details
On-campus accommodation
- Get your room keys and detailed instructions to find your room from the porters lodge at the main gate
- Linens are provided, which includes towels, bathmat, bed sheets, pillow and case, and a comforter. Also provided: 3 hangers, soap, shampoo, and shower gel.
Boat Ride and Conference Dinner
- Starting outside the SCC building, local guides will lead a walk along the Lesum river (about 40 min, 2.5 km) to the departure point of the boats. One group will depart at 16:30 (more scenic) and another at 17:00 (more rapid).
- The boat ride will depart at 18:00 from Signalstation Vegesack
- There is an alternative group going with the 94 bus from Seefahrtstraße bus stop in direction Schwanewede up to Bremen-Vegesack. These depart at 16:54, 17:09 and 17:24. It is theoretically possible to buy tickets from the driver, but as this option obviously does not scale well; whoever joins this group is strongly requested to get a pre-paid ticket (e.g. self-organize in groups of 4 and get tickets are reduced rate from the ticket machine at Schönebeck station - these pre-paid tickets only need to be stamped on the bus)
- For those, who rather want to go to Vegesack on their own: PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BE AT THE BOAT DEPARTURE POINT AT 17:45 AT THE LATEST !!
- For people staying downtown Bremen, there is a drop-off point at Martinianleger Bremen
Poster session
- Posters can be put up in the foyer of the Campus Center from Monday noon at your convenience, they should remain throughout the week
- Poster presenters should be at their posters during the poster session on Thursday
- Any resonable format is supported
- For last-minute poster printing, Copy Maxx (Gerhard-Rohlfs-Straße 57A, 28757 Bremen) can print A1 posters from mobile phone or USB drive on the spot
- There is an audience poster award sponsored by Cambridge University Press. Everybody is invited to vote, QR codes leading to the voting portal will be posted during the poster session
Conference photo
- Tentatively, depending on the weather, everybody is asked to assemble on the stairs to the left of the Campus Center on Thursday at the beginning of the poster session.
Meals
The following is included in the conference fee:
- Welcome reception on Sunday, July 28, from 18:00
- Morning and afternoon coffee break (see schedule overview)
- Snacks during poster session on Thursday
- Water, soft drinks, coffee and tea are provided during the coffee breaks. Outside of these, tap water is good quality and safe. During the conference, it is possible to fill up water bottles in the tea room of Research II (next to the Research II Lecture Hall), which also has a nice lounge area.
Food on campus
The cafeterias in College 3 and Nordmetall College (marked “Restaurant” on the campus map) are open
- 7:00-10:00 (breakfast)
- 11:00-14:30 (lunch)
- 18:00-20:00 (dinner)
Please note that the cafeterias do not accept cash. Use your bank card, credit card, or mobile phone payment service.
Please also visit our Latin Food Truck Dos Cuates and our Specialty Coffee Truck from Rösthof, open daily from 12:00-14:00 in front of the Campus Center (cash and cards accepted)
Evenings on campus
- On Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 18:00 - midnight our campus bar TOS is open, with indoor and outdoor seating. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink are served by the local brewery Braumanufaktur Bremen.
